From Caribbean to Pacific Ocean You are in the tropics, everyday Sea Kayaking a different place, jungle canals, a lake by an active volcano, camping in a tropical island, in beautiful Costa Rica, come for the journey of a life time.
Tour Description
Coast to Coast Sea Kayak expedition, great oportunity to experience the different microclimates of Costa Rica, working our kayaking skills up in a nice progression begining in tiny canals in the jungle on the Caribbean side, then a lake with calm waters, to finish exploring the Pacific Ocean and one Island. evergreen rain forest, high mountains in the clouds, volcanoes and tropical islands, from tiny jungle canals to the Pacific Ocean.

For this trip you do not need previous kayak experience, we can pace the whole trip according to your needs, a professional kayak instructor will be with you the whole time, sharing knowledge of the area, the flora and fauna, answering your questions and assisting you in all your paddling needs.

Day 1
Itinerary
  • Arrival to Costa Rica, shuttles from airport to your Hotel in Alajuela or San Jose.
  • Check in, Welcoming by your guides, fruit buffet.
  • 7pm- Dinner and briefing about Costa Rica, the country and the expedition

Day 2
Itinerary
  • 6 am, Departure From San Jose to Tortuguero National Park
  • 9 am Boat ride to Tortuguero village, cruising jungle canals in our own boat.
  • 11 am, Arrival to Tortuguero Town
  • Noon, lunch.
  • Visit to the Turtle Rescue Center.
  • Afternoon kayak adjustment and exploring the mangroves; great time to work on kayak technique.
  • 7 pm dinner by the beach, relax
  • Sleep in Tortuguero, Miss Junie’s hotel.

Day 3
Itinerary
  • Morning, great breakfast, warm up and ready for a day of fun, today is the Caribbean side of Costa Rica, sea level, jungle canals and flat lands, a pristine and fantastic place to observe a diverse wildlife.
  • Noon, back at the hotel, lunch, a visit to town
  • Boat/hiking tour to Tortuguero Hill and the village of San Francisco, by the Sea.
  • 4:30 pm Return to Tortuguero
  • Relaxing sunset by the beach.
  • Dinner by the beach.
  • Night hike to observe sea turtles
  • Sleep in Tortuguero.

Day 4
Itinerary
  • Morning in the beach, great breakfast, a walk on the village
  • 10 am, departure to Arenal volcano via Boat/bus.
  • 2:30 pm Arrival to La Fortuna, in the vicinity of the volcano, check in
  • 6 pm A visit to La Fortuna, a charming little town, dinner.
  • We sleep in La Fortuna, Hotel Jardines Arenal.

Day 5
Itinerary
  • Early breakfast, today we are right in the center of Costa Rica, 600 meters from sea level, a land of mountains and volcanoes.
  • 9 am- Arenal Lake, surrounded by a lush tropical rain forest, the peak of the volcano overlooking at us, a mystic place to Sea Kayak.
  • Lunch on the lake, watching the volcano.
  • After a little break we go hike in lava trails at the foothills of the volcano, right where there was a town when the volcano erupted in 1968
  • After a super fun day, relaxing at Baldi Hot Spring Resort, a tropical garden with 14 different pools, heated by spring holes from the volcano, let the water massage you and sooth your body.
  • 8:30 pm- Dinner in Baldi Hot Spring Resort.
  • Sleep in La Fortuna, hotel Jardines Arenal.

Day 6
Itinerary
  • Early breakfast and off to the Pacific, Nicoya Peninsula.
  • 10 am- Ferry to Paquera.
  • 12 am- Arrival to Curú, lunch by the beach.
  • Afternoon, we are in the waters of the Pacific Ocean; let´s try one of the many wonderful beaches, like Quesera.
  • Sunset relax
  • Dinner by the Ocean, under the stars
  • Sleep in Paquera.

Day 7
Itinerary
  • Another great morning, today we are on the Pacific side, in front of us is the Ocean; you can hear the howler monkeys from the beach.
  • Tortuga Island is only 3 kilometers away from the beach of Curú; from the beach we will paddle to
  • Tortuga Island, a paradisiacal place where we will have lunch and plenty of time to snorkel or just relax at the beach.
  • Lunch will be served in Tortuga Island
  • Dinner again at the beach, under the stars, we sleep in Paquera.



What to bring for whitewater kayakers only: 
  • Swimming suit
  • Shorts
  • T-Shirt
  • Tennis shoes, Teva sandals or Aqua shoes, ( not flip - flop )
  • Windbreaker ( or any synthetic fabric T-Shirt )
  • Sun block 15+
After water activities: 
  • Full set of clothes for changing
  • Towel
  • Plastic bag for wet clothes
  • Cash for souvenirs, pictures and T-Shirts
For overnight trips:

  • Medicines if needed. If this is the case, please inform our office staff or the river guide. On long hikes, for the day
On long hikes for the day, a backpack with: 
  • Towel,
  • Extra pair of socks,
  • Light change of clothes,
  • Basic first aid(Band aids, ibuprofen, if you take medicines don’t forget to bring them)
  • Plenty bottled water,
  • Sun protection,
  • Mosquito repellent, 
  • An extra pair of shoes like strap shoes for water activities,
  • A pair of shorts,
  • Sun glasses,
  • Power bars (granola, etc.).
